Sunrise over the Wheat Field

I was born in Seoul, Korea, and moved to Canada during my teenage years. In Korea, at 14, I had a life-changing encounter with Jesus, which led to being baptized and filled by the Holy Spirit. Pursuing my dream to become a doctor, I had another encounter with God during my senior year in college that changed my life forever. I spent the next four years with Youth With A Mission, traveling around the world. I came to the U.S. for seminary studies where I met my wife Sandy. In our pathway to becoming international workers with The Alliance, we moved to San Jose in 2002 to fulfill a two-year internship. God had a different plan for us and we are still here in our long-term internship! I am blessed with four beautiful daughters and I am a passionate outdoor junkie. I enjoy rafting, fishing, and music. A fun fact about me? I can finish a whole watermelon in 60 seconds!

I received a B.S. in Biochemistry from McGill University, an M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. in Leadership in a Global Context from Alliance Theological Seminary.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory
