WEST CAMPUS (Willow Glen)
Why are we expanding to another campus?
- The Willow Glen church building, the original birthplace of the San Jose Christian Alliance Church, was miraculously returned to the Alliance Central Pacific District 2 years ago; the district has now given San Jose Christian Alliance Church priority to use it for ministry. We (the church senior leadership and elders) have prayed and believe this property is an inheritance from the Lord as we approach our 50th year, the year of Jubilee, we've been given a renewed vision and mission to redeem this space and expand His kingdom. This expansion is an intentional choice to fulfill the church's original mission of being fruitful and multiplying.
- The Willow Glen neighborhood has many English speakers who could potentially walk to church. The area also has a large Hispanic population and is near an underserved community, offering a tremendous opportunity for ministry.
- It also creates room and space at the original campus, which is at full capacity with the Chinese-speaking congregations, and will challenge those who stay to grow.
Why is this important for our church and community?
- Aside from a deep conviction from the Lord, the expansion to West Campus mobilizes the church body on mission, develops new leaders, and reinvigorates both campuses with a renewed passion to reach the community for Christ. Furthermore, it aligns us to our vision of being a fruitful and multiplying missional community, focusing on serving others, instead of being solely inward-focused.
- Also practically speaking, each of the services at the San Jose East Campus are maxed out. ES, CS, MS are full and parking is becoming an issue. This move alleviates the space and parking problems that we are currently facing.
Why maintain a single church identity rather than fully independent churches?
- The core of our church identity is that we are "One family, many languages, united in Christ"
- We believe that we are stronger as a united body. As we serve together in unity, despite linguistic and cultural differences, we believe that it is a powerful testament of the gospel in a divided world.
- Reflecting a "taste of heaven", our diverse identity aligns with scripture, which envisions people from "every nation, tribe, people, and language" worshipping together on Earth just as in heaven.
- We see being multi-ethnic united body as an advantage as we can be more effective in reaching and serving the increasingly diverse needs of our community.
