Youth News: Nov. 14, 2019Thursday July 2nd, 2020
This week we will have a unique Sunday in which we all will be going out to distribute the Convoy of Hope flyers one last time! As we go through this season of thanksgiving, let’s reflect on having a heart that gives out of thankfulness.
Ideally, giving out with a thankful heart is a good thing, but to practice is another step. In fact, it is a discipline to practice daily. In Hebrew 12:10-12 we read this today,
10 Our parents trained us for a little while. They did what they thought was best. But God trains us for our good. He does this so we may share in his holiness. 11 No training seems pleasant at the time. In fact, it seems painful. But later on it produces a harvest of godliness and peace. It does this for those who have been trained by it.12 So put your hands to work. Strengthen your legs for the journey. (NIRV)
Youth, take time today to reflect on the discipline your parents put you through and what the result was. Did you become fearful, resentful, or did you grow well from it? Then ask yourself how did God discipline me? What did that produce? Afterwards, come to Him in prayer to recognize how God’s hand has been in your life through these moments of discipline. God is still at work in each of your lives because you’re His children. Now that’s something to be thankful about.
