Hi Youth Family,

Today I wanted to share about The Lesson of the Fig Tree from Luke 21:29-33,

“And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” (ESV)

There are two things that Jesus reminds us in this passage,

When season passes and time flies, we know that the kingdom of God is near. Meaning that the things of this Earth will pass and as Christians, we need to be intentional with how we live.
Jesus claims that His words will pass away…

Just recently, someone I knew back in High School passed away with heart complications around the age of 23. I went through FB and read many heartbreaking posts but one post caught my eyes. It stated, “Why is it that God’s miracles are always for someone else?” This was written from a best friend. Now what is heart breaking is that this isn’t the first time she has lost someone dear to her. Back when she was younger, her father passed away from a tragic accident.

My heart grieved and though I may not have the right words for this individual, what I do know is that both her best friend and dad are in Heaven. Simply because they chose to place their life in something worth living for. They placed their hope in the living Words of God that will not pass away.

Youth Family, I know that this is more detailed than usual but I wanted to share with you and encourage you from this reality. Though sin has taken joy, we can know that in Christ, there is life that extends beyond death. That is something sin cannot hold us from. The term forever is unique because we know that this word goes on to describe everlasting. As we have read that God’s words will not pass away, I wanted to bless you to renew your thinking in knowing that we are called into eternity with Him.

Take time to spend precious moments with your families, friends, and those that have been a blessing to you. Pray for those who do not have this profound Hope of eternity and intercede that they will have this peaceful gift of His Spirit being with us.
