His presence
Hi, I’m Katie and I’m a sophomore in high school, and I have pretty much been in this church my whole life. I went through most of my years of Sunday School thinking about when the next craft activity was and lunch afterwards. At that time, I only knew God from the Bible stories I had heard. I understood His power and greatness, but I never imagined having a Father and daughter relationship with Him. It was not very clear who God was to me until around 6th grade.
Youth was a big jump from my elementary years and God revealed Himself to me in a whole other level. When the time for Winter Retreat came, I did not know what to expect. And during one of the sessions when we were given time to hear from God, I sat, waited and listened. That evening, I felt His presence. It was not very obvious, but it was enough for me to feel Him. I had never experienced it before, and knowing that God was there comforted me and simply awed me. I then wanted to know more about God and who He really was.
For the next three years, I grew closer with God, but I was still unsure of becoming baptized. I felt that I was not ready or my faith was not perfect. Until recently, I did not believe I would grow as Christ’s follower even after baptism. I just know that if I trust God with my life, He will have the best plan for me.
